What is concrete maturity?

The strength of concrete depends highly on both the concrete temperature and the curing time during the early-age of gaining strength.

Concrete maturity is an indicator of how much the concrete has progressed in the curing process.

Maturity represents the relationship between concrete temperature and time. It is specified as a value, identified as the maturity index, that can be calculated from the recorded temperature history of the concrete using an equation.

The concrete maturity can be determined in real-time with Maturix™ using wireless concrete sensors. By establishing the relationship between the compressive strength and the maturity of a concrete mix beforehand, Maturix™ is able to give precise estimations of the in-place strength of the concrete during the hardening process.

The technique for estimating the concrete strength is known as the Maturity Method.
